Understanding USB-C Charging
USB-C is a connector. Charging speed still depends on PD, PPS, the cable, and the phone.
USB-C describes the port shape. It does not mean every USB-C charger is the same.
- Connector: USB-C vs USB-A vs Lightning.
- Protocol: USB PD, PPS, or older USB-A charging.
- Cable: e-marked high-wattage USB-C cables vs thin charge-only leads.
- Phone limit: the device’s own maximum wired wattage.
Lightning iPhones need a USB-C PD charger plus a USB-C to Lightning cable (or a USB-C iPhone with a USB-C cable). USB-A to Lightning will not provide the same PD handshake.
